CrossFit West Lafayette was established in 2009 by Patrick Flannelly. After obtaining his CrossFit level 1 certification, he utilized the next couple of years to help others in a global gym environment. In 2011, Patrick enlisted the help of his wife, Kristin, to increase membership and CrossFit class offerings to grow the business. Within a year, membership had outgrown the current space available, sending Patrick and Kristin searching for a new location and partnership to continue to grow CrossFit West Lafayette.
In the fall of 2012, CrossFit West Lafayette opened its current location at 304 Brown Street and took on a partnership with Nathan Bibler. Nate had utilized the CrossFit methodology extensively while serving as a Marine Officer and demonstrated a passion for CrossFit that could only enhance CrossFit West Lafayette.
Our current membership is a diverse, supportive network that welcomes new members on a regular basis. We have developed our gym, or box, for our members to experience CrossFit in the most pure, conducive environment to achieve results.
The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. In the class setting, the workout is the same for each athlete; however, each athlete works with his or her trainer to set up the workout based on ability to ensure safety, proper form and getting the most from each workout. The group workout of the day, or WOD, enables athletes to compete and push one another to achieve results on a daily basis and develop a great community along the way.
We are a “minimalist program,” a fact this is reflected by the functionality and limited number of exercises and the simplicity of the equipment we use compared with most commercial gyms. In a WOD, you can expect to do a variety of exercise each day, including metabolic conditioning, strength training and functional movements.
